La Barra de Potosi

You'll know the village of La Barra by the striking bougainvilla tree at the entrance. This fishing village consists of three tiny streets bordering one of the most beautiful beaches and lagoon estuaries in all of Mexico. It is a safe and wonderfully relaxed and friendly place.

Beyond the end of the road just beyond the palms in this photo is the lagoon which curves behind the village to the left for some 9 k. The beach (just to the left but not seen in this photo) is known as Playa Blanca at Barra de Potosi. At the opposite end to the north (nearly 18k north) it is called Playa Larga. The village of La Barra de Potosi marks the southern end of the Bay of Potosi. (See the aerial photo for an good overview.)
