We currently welcome quests in five suites in the village house plus the separate adobe bungalow (with two sleeping rooms and a full kitchen)- all two and a half short blocks (300 meters) from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
We are half a block from the shore of a 9k wide lagoon edged with winding mangrove tree-lines canals. In the future we'll offer two palapa bungalows on our beach property nearby -Amorcito Gecko de la Casa del Encanto.
All our guests have access to our private beach enramada at Amorcito Gecko - plenty of hammocks under the shade of palms or the enramada pergola on the beach. Enjoy the gorgeous view of the ocean (or a luxuriously lulling massage in the privacy of a palm cabana).
The bedroom suites in the village house all have a private bath and are surrounded by spacious terraces, fountains and beautiful tropical gardens - all within the warmth and charm of the village. The two upstairs suites have a lovely view of the village rooftops and coconut plantations.
We live with sea breezes, fans, and mosquito netting. No TV or phone in the rooms (our house phone is available in case of emergency). No air conditioning interferes with the seamless connection to nature and the beautiful sounds that fill the air here. Birdsong and roosters in the morning, crickets and surf in the night, gentle village sounds through the day from chickens passing by and occasional cheery Mexican music to giggles of children erupting in their evening play on the streets...sudden galloping of horses running through the streets at night... These sounds accompany us together with the striking visual beauty around us and nurtures the soul.
Perhaps you'll want to enjoy the beauty and pleasure of one of our gourmet candlelight dinners in the garden dining room. You can also cross the street for some of Doņa Emi's delicious tacos in her evening meal restaurant where she chats quietly with her neighbor guests or tells melodic stories while cooking over a fire in her adobe chiminea.
The rooms are equipped with new, queen size deep pocket, padded SpringAir mattresses. We take special pleasure in pampering you with details such as luxurious high thread count cotton linens and tastefully accented decor in the style of Coastal Mexican Architecture. Our priority is on blending the indoor and outdoor space with all the comfort and security allowed by this lovely tropical climate.
We serve an excellent fresh tropical Mexican breakfast. This includes locally grown coffee (the best from a neighbor's coffee plantation and fresh roasted on the comal -a clay cooking surface over firewood), a range of teas (herbal and black), fresh squeezed orange juice, Mexican sweet rolls and fresh bread (delivered hot from the oven by bicycle every morning), a variety of tropical fruits, homemade yogurt and several kinds of granola.
We vary this with an occasional hot dish, such as regional favorites Chilaquiles or Huevos Rancheros. All ingredients are fresh and prepared with the affection and skill that makes Mexican hospitality famous.
We are in the heart of the friendly and picturesque village of La Barra de Potosi. The short two block walk to the beach is a pleasure in itself. There are several little stores selling basic items, and 3 restaurants are open for dinner in the evening.
